Where is the Central Market?

The central market (Mercado Central) is Ideally located in the heart of the Ciutat Vella, Valencia's historic city center. The central market is one of the largest in the Valencian Community. The central market of valencia is a must see. It is the largest fresh produce market in Europe with a variety of products and flavours from the Mediterranean area.

Architecture

In addition to its diverse and varied offer, this market is also known for its modernist architecture which makes it so attractive. Indeed, the architectural setting is magnificent with its decorative elements. In the decoration is added the faience on the stained glasses which make it a monument not to be missed. Above all if you take a look up you will find a beautifull dome. When you enter the building you will also be dazzled by the beauty of the interior. by the light that goes through the different parts of the roof and the multicolored glass windows.  

What is inside the central market?

With an area of 8000 square meters, this market hosts nearly 1200 stalls with a variety of products. In fact you will find a multitude of food stalls and will be amazed by the explosion of flavors that can be found there. Meat, Iberian sausages, fresh fish, fruits and vegetables, cheese. Most of this products are coming from local producers, you will not be disappointed. Inside the central market you even find world cuisine, with a Lebanese stand that offers a variety of snacks and delicacies both sweet and salty, which asks only to be tasted. There are also stands dedicated exclusively to spices where you can find the famous saffron used to prepare a paella.

Outside the market, just in front of the entrance you can find florists, souvenir stores but also a multitude of restaurants where you can taste all the specialties of the city, to eat on the spot or to take away. It is a place not to be missed as much for what is inside as for the beauty of the building.

The market is open from Monday to Saturday from 7.30 am to 3 pm.
